Most people are familiar with the muscle relaxing benefits of a hot pack, soak or a bath.  And anyone who has ever had an orthopedic injury, bump or bruise is probably familiar with the anti-inflammatory properties of a cold or ice pack.  But rarely are people using the combination of the two approaches in what I call:  contrast hydrotherapy, one of my favorite treatments for musculoskeletal injuries and pain.  This therapy uses both hot and cold to reduce inflammation and bring nutrient-rich blood to the injured area.
